Born in the south of Germany to a vietnamese family, Chopstick aka Chi-Thien Nguyen looks at a multinational social background. But it´s not only his upbringing that formed his musical vision: 10 years of classical piano lessons, 3 years of spanish guitar lessons, 2 years of music harmony lesson meet 10 years of studio skills and 4 years of turntable experience. This forms the basis of Chopstick´s distinctive tracks – and therefor it´s no surprise that artists such as Madonna, Britney Spears, LL Cool J, Xzibit, Deep Dish, Miss Kittin and Sister Sledge asked for his remixing skills.
His DJ-Sets present his musical preferences ranging from Minimal and Tech-House to Deep-House and freaked out audiences throughout Australia, Asia, South America, North America and Europe.
His expertise as an A&R helped him (together with Johnjon) build up an run his first label Criminal Records in 2005. After sheding his teeth with Criminal Records he once again headed for new shores
and landed in Hamburg: Together with Johnjon and André Stubbs he formed Baalsaal: Monthly clubnights bringing friends of Criminal Records (hence Criminal & Friends) to play André Stubbs club Baalsaal not only enriched Hamburg´s club scene but also brought the label a worldwide reputation as a quality source for underground electronic music.
Chopstick newest imprint Suol brings old Baalsaal friends (Fritz Kalkbrenner, Johnjon, Penner & Mudder) in a new fresh environment. Looking at Chopstick´s history it for sure will set dancefloors on fire.

What´s the best cure for another too short party weekend? Expand the party right into your working week.
This is exactly what Chopstick (Suol) and Till von Sein (Keine Musik) did - by rocking the Cookies Club in Berlin. Their set let the crowd freak out and made everybody forget it was only midweek. Their sophisticated Deep House made this Tuesday even better than some Saturdays we spent at other parties.
Because we were so busy celebrating, we only got a few pictures and a little video – but make sure to check them out anyway.

A new baby is born and the proud parents Chopstick & Johnjon celebrated its arrival with a little family party at the Gallery Lucas Carrieri.
Labelmates Fritz Kalkbrenner and Nils Penner, as well as Zander VT, Axel Bartsch and Trickski welcomed the newborn with relaxed sets. For this special occasion they dug deep into their record collections and delivered relaxed Rare-Grooves you surely won´t get to hear at a regular gig.

The distinctive voice of Fritz Kalkbrenner and the mad skills of the DJ and producer Duo “Chopstick & Johnjon” turned “A New Day” into a worldwide club- and radiohit. Released on the new SUOL label (formerly Baalsaal) the tune features remixes of Till von Sein, Marek Herrmann und Oliver Koletzki. All remixers pay great attention to the songs haunting refrain, but surely don´t forget to match the needs of the dancefloor. Even half a year after its release “A New Day” still causes ecstasy on dancefloors worldwide.
